  • I shopped on two different occasions at this store for guns since it was near my home. The first time was uneventful, but during my second purchase some weeks later, I encountered an unusual customer service gaffe that has altered my opinion of this place very negatively. I had just purchased about $1500 worth of merchandise and was finally headed towards the door to go home. I was stopped by the owner who asked to see my handgun again. I stopped and provided the gun to him not fully knowing why he needed to see it again. I thought perhaps he had forgotten to record some information for his records or something of that nature. Instead, he opened up the gun box, removed the gun, removed the barrel block, cleared the weapon, and then as he was about to hand it over to another browsing customer, asked me if it was OK for him to do so. I really did not want him to pass around my new expensive purchase to a complete stranger to fondle, but he surprised me and put me in a very awkward situation, since refusing would have made me look like an anti-social jerk at that point and he was already 9/10 of the way of passing it off anyway. I reluctantly agreed since he had already prepared it for the hand off, but in retrospect I should have refused and demanded my gun back. It was one of those situations that happens quickly and takes you by surprise, and I really did not appreciate being set up like that. When I made my discomfort known to the owner, he replied that I had given him permission to allow the other random customer to fondle my gun, and that my description of events was inaccurate, so not only was the owner a complete jerk, but actually defended his actions. This may not seem like a big deal to some people, but imagine that you have just made a very expensive purchase ($1500) and were on your way out the door when the owner or salesperson stops you, takes back your wrapped purchase, opens it up, and then hands it over to a random stranger while you have to stand there and wait for the stranger to finish fondling your expensive item before you can repackage your item and leave. Like most people, I have encountered terrible customer service before in its many forms: indifference, laziness, sloppiness, condescension, ingratitude, impatience, surliness, etc. But I have never encountered a customer service experience quite like this one, and I certainly will not be returning, or referring my coworkers and friends to this place.
