| - I went to see Alice Cooper and Deep Purple this past August at the Chelsea, and despite the show being loads of fun with good sound and pyro, and the theatre being a good size, I think the Chelsea itself could improve on a few things.
First off, the drinks at this place are poured with minimal hard liquor and cost a fortune, and while we're at it, the same goes for the beers. My girlfriend and I spent $120 on drinks throughout the entire concert and left with a small buzz. The line-ups getting in were atrocious, with everyone inching along like worms and complaining about the heat inside. The signs leading the way to the theatre were also confusing and pointed in several directions, holding us up a few minutes as we backtracked. The security was pretty relaxed for how big the venue was, but I feel they need more staff to aid in finding seats. Finally, the washrooms were an absolute Hell and they definitely need to open up a few more, as I haven't seen the washroom wait between bands that long at any concert venue I've been to.
Despite all of that, I still give this place a solid 3/5 - the venue is architecturally grand, the drink selection was decent compared to other venues - especially for Las Vegas - and finally, I was having a rockin' time, so all of the negatives seem like minor inconveniences. I'll be back, but I may show up later and use the urinal during the bands' set... anything to skip those awful line-ups!
