| - Came here back in October for my husband's surprise birthday trip to Vegas. We stayed at Aria Sky suites so this was a restaurant he wanted to try since the last time we were in Vegas. We are definitely glad we came to sample their menu.
First of all, the restaurant is tastefully decorated...it's trendy but has an old world charm feeling to it. Maybe it's the absinthe station I saw walking in....but I was absolutely obsessed with trying it out once I saw it. But first, I want to first speak on the impeccable service that we received. I hate that I forgot his name but he was so knowledgeable about the menu and made great suggestions on drinks. He even explained everything I needed to know about trying out absinthe for the first time. Which I will get to later :) I had the cotton candy cocktail and omg it is so good! I love food and drinks that "wow" me. So of course when he brings me a drink with a cup and nothing but cotton candy in it, I was instantly trying to figure it out. He pour liquor over it, and I could see the cotton candy melting into the drink. I knew instantly this was going to be a good one!!!! I forgot what my hubby ordered, but it was equally impressive. Their drink menu is awesome. I really wanted to try several, but I am a light weight and I really wanted to try to save some room for the absinthe. When it came down to ordering the absinthe, our server gave us a little history and how the menu works. If you see it you would know what I mean, it's a little confusing to read. But he gave me suggestions, so I ordered the original and the St. Germaine. Honestly, even though they are suppose to taste different, It was still not my cup of tea---the taste just isn't for me. If you like star anise favor then this is for you. But I am glad we tried it out anyway. I am always down to try anything once! Even if it's poison! haha
Now to the food...you will see beautiful pictures of their signature scallop dish all around Aria. My mouth would water every time I saw it, so it was so brainer what I was going to order. Guess the advertisement worked because my husband ordered the same too lol. That dish is absolutely delicious, perfect flavor combination with the soft tender oxtails. Everything cooked to perfection. A must try. Oh, I also ordered the foie gras creme brûlée since I just love foie gras....it is definitely different but it is quite rich for one person. So even though it's small serving I would suggest sharing it with someone, unless you just LOVE the fattiness of it all to yourself. But it is different, and I am so glad I ordered it. So hard to explain it... There is just so many different textures and flavors going on at the same time! They also send you different types of "shooters" in between courses to clear your palette. For example, one I remember was a fruity one (I think it was Mango?) but it was very refreshing. And I love that because it really resets your palette. I noticed this trend taking place in more luxury dining establishments now and I like it.
It was definitely a great evening. Give this place a try if you are in Vegas next time.
