| - The Tonal Center is excellent! After buying my first acoustic/electric guitar from Guitar Center in 2004, I had asked the sales rep I bought the guitar from if he could recommend any guitar teachers in my area. I was given two business cards. The first teacher I went to wasn't bad, but he couldn't teach fingerstyle playing, which was something I really wanted to learn at the time. Then I contacted Kurt Hauser at the Tonal Center. He was able to teach any style I wanted to learn, so I tried classical in the beginning, and within the next year, switched to electric. Kurt's been one of the best teachers I have had. I have learned how to read music and understand some key elements to basic music theory that have helped me create some of my own material. I think many people (myself included) tend to burn out after a certain period of time because they keep practicing the same things for years, and never change their routine. With Kurt, you never have to worry about that. If you feel like you need a change and want to try something different, Kurt is very accommodating. He's extremely knowledgeable, always helpful, and I will continue to go to Kurt for lessons as long as I can. Kurt encourages questions in every lesson, and is always giving honest feedback to try to help me become a better player. I have met one of the other instructors there, Rich, and he's also incredible. I highly recommend the Tonal Center to anyone considering lessons! As a kid I dreaded taking music lessons, but now in my late 30s, I actually look forward to them.
