| - When the Toronto Maple Leafs brought their farm team to Toronto, they needed a place to put them. And let's face it, they need all the growing room they can get. So, up went the Ricoh Coliseum in a central easy to get to location that houses some fairly decent tier-below-the-top hockey.
Found on the CNE Fairgrounds , the Ricoh Coliseum is used primarily for hockey, but has also housed some exhibits when The Ex is on during the summer. But mainly, it's a hockey venue. In the design of the place, the planners also made it into a concert venue which, depending upon the act, can be good or devastating. The acoustics I find are too dependent on your position in the venue. For Kraftwerk I was on the main floor and the sound was fantastic. For Franz Ferdinand, I was in the furthest seat away. The sound was echo-ey, distorted, and crap. So take your chances.
If you're not a Leafs season ticket holder (and if you are, I'll gladly take any donations you can provide, since you're obviously really well off), this provides the next best alternative. You are able to see some current and soon-to-be hockey stars at a price that is reasonable for a family. Finally, an affordable hockey game.
