| - I don't understand some of the negative reviews. I mean, I guess the first things you should know before signing up for this activity, is that this is, in fact, a physically challenging activity course which takes place outside, and has been built around 'REAL' trees.
So, yeah, you could very well encounter some bugs, flies, spiders, etc....afterall, they live in forests. ;)
Now, when my son and I went through this course, we did not see a TON of insects and flies, but sure, there are some around. At one point, I passed a daddy longlegs on my way up a tree. LOL.
True, you can possibly get hurt, and even fall to the ground - if you don't follow directions! Before anybody is allowed to proceed on their own, a guide leads each group through an instruction course. This takes about 13 minutes, and the guide makes sure that everyone has their safety belts on correctly (which have 2 safety lines & carabiners on them), and the guide shows guests how to properly transfer their safety lines from one place to the next, etc. The guide then watches each person demonstrate that they understood and are able to do a proper transfer.
So, as long as you pay attention to the guide's instruction, and always do your transfers as shown, you won't be in danger of falling to the ground. Even if you were to accidentally slip off the edge of a platform or something like that, you are still attached, and will safely be able to get yourself 'situated'.
Yes, you will want to bring a pair of gloves, such as workout gloves or cycling gloves. If you don't have those, you can buy a pair in the office, for $8 per pair, which are actually pretty good and will withstand the challenge ahead.
The only other 'word of caution' I would offer, is...... You should be in 'decent' condition in order to complete the course. By the time you finish, you will have had a good workout, but it's FUN!! -was even better than I had expected!
I would definitely do this again, and am glad to recommend it to others!
The price might seem a bit high. I paid about $89 for my son & I to go. But, then I figured, for one thing, it took us about 2 hours to complete the course, and there were a lot of fun challenges to get through.... it's a unique experience.... he & I had an awesome time together and got some good, funny pics of each other throughout the course. So, everything considered, the price didn't seem bad. I would say it's definitely worth trying at least once. :)
Oh, and these are several locations in other states, including Southern California. So, for my friends who live there and might be reading this.....Look up "go ape"! ;)
