  • I had a strange craving to try this place, as I always passed by on the way to the "secret" pizzeria. The gourmet burger craze is sweeping the industry right now, and of course it landed at the new Cosmo hotel. We had some time to kill in between lunch and dinner, so we dropped by for a relatively small snack. The 3-stars is strictly just for the few items we ordered. Walking through the bar, there was a strong "wet rag" stench that permeated throughout the area. It was weird. Then my eyes moved over to see people sucking down on shakes. I have to admit, those "bamboozled" shakes looked intriguing, even if they were $11. Plus, they had alcohol in them. They need to do a shake challenge here, pronto. My wife and I decided to split an appetizer and a burger. On the recommendation of the waiter, we ordered the philly cheese steak spring rolls and the "Hook" burger. The inside of the spring rolls were still raw and doughy, and you could still see some of the flour from the egg roll wrapper. The filling inside was nasty. Little brown bits of meat drenched in a cheese whiz like gooey sauce. $12 for 3! We told the waiter, and he was nice enough to take it away, and we could order something else. We opted for the fried dill spear pickles, which were delicious. The tart and tangy, crisp crunch of the pickles combined with a side of prosciutto and salami was a fantastic combination. As for the burger, there was nothing terribly complex about it, but it was executed well. Whereas others grind their salmon to make a patty, here it was left untouched. Just lightly seared and cooked to a medium, topped with house cured gravlax (fancy term for lox). Coupled with the caper herb mayo, It was a tasty burger.
