The historic Western charm of days gone by are on full display in the Cave Creek area. Plenty of dust of get on your 'boys and an equal amount of watering holes to keep you hydrated.
Thinking we'd find an Irish cowboy, we headed to El Encanto on St. Paddy's day. This open air (at least in the center of the restaurant) was perfect for the amazing Arizona weather this time of year. Complete with a large wading pool for waterfowl and goldfish, guitar strumming mariachis, and excellent service El Encanto services up ambience in spades.
The one thing you won't find is a James Beard award winning results on your plate, and that's ok. The food is not bad and actually quite passable- just barely. I had the pescado with veggies and rice in the habanero sauce. The fish was average, the veggies perfect and the rice with corn (nice touch) was a little undone. The habanero sauce was not spicy at all, very little flavor. The Princess had close to the same dish (although with shrimp). She enjoyed it but said the same thing about the sauce. I had a margarita on the rocks and it wreaked of a sweet mix rather than a simple craft margarita of tequila, lime juice, maybe some Cointreau. P had some Cabernet and enjoyed it.
Overall, this is a fun place to take in some great vibes and enjoyable (not great) Mexican food.
