We have been using Intact Insurance for a number of years. The only time we've ever heard from an agent is when the bill is due. To make matters worse, we did inquire about our roof last fall with a deductible quoted for $1000 by our agent. Now that we're on our stay vacation and wanted to line up the roof repair, we were told that the deductible has mushroomed to $2500 + more. When asked to honor the original quote since it was under a year, the agent could only say "I'm sorry" .... like "my bad". I said I would share the experience with others. Understandably, there are many insurance claims in Alberta due to the Wild Fires and Flooding over the past few years, but we have home and auto insurance, with the last claim over 10 years ago under a previous insurance company. When speaking to neighbors on both sides, both had $0 deductible. Oh yeah, INTACT said it would be at least 6 weeks to follow up to do an inspection to get the claim started. Is this customer service or customer horror story? I'd say the latter. UPDATE: The insurance adjuster finally appeared Monday September 25 (exactly 4 months since I wrote this) and the deductible was $2500 (agent quote was not honored) plus a amortization added. Now a total of over $5000 - who needs insurance by these guys who take advantage of people when they reach out?
