| - When you first walk into Post and Beam it's an overwhelming showroom of, due to the lack of better words, really really cool stuff. They specialize in reclaimed architectural structures and features, like stained glass windows, posts and beams (duh), old doors, wall trim and sconces, mantles, fireplaces, other fixtures, and lighting. They have old signs and fences; ites can be used inside or outside the home. As i was looking around, I noted that the items and the materials used to form these objects are durable, high quality and well-finished, a very nice change for the MDF furniture that is so pervasive these days. They also have a good selection of old maps that any world traveler would be proud to put up on the wall.
My boyfriend went in, bought a beautiful light fixture that was made with a reclaimed lantern centered inside an orb made with strips of steel. It came in different sizes and i believe the model he bought was $450 which is very reasonable for the model and design. We got comments on the fixture every time people came over so i think that says a lot about the items sold here.
The owner, Paul, is incredibly nice and friendly. He's knowledgeable about the materials and overall very pleasant to work with. I recently purchased a new house in the area and have already seen an item or two i would love to have on my property. If you are in the area, i would def check this place out if you are looking for a unique and special piece with a story.
