rev:text	Had I written this review a couple of years ago, I would've given the place 5 stars, but it seems that recently the Great Dane has gone straight downhill. This used to be my go-to place to take friends or relatives when they came to visit from out of town--the food and bar menus had varied selections that could basically please anyone, the prices were fair, the atmosphere was (and still is) great, and the service was (and still is) usually good. I've always loved that there are basically two restaurants in one here: a pool hall and lounge on one side, a sit-down restaurant on the other. However, despite all of these positive qualities, I can't get over how much some of the stuff has changed. The portions seem to have gotten smaller (which is fine), but the prices have not reflected this changel. Before, we were shocked at how much food we got for our money, but now, I don't feel like I'm getting the same bang for my buck. They used to nail everything that came out of their kitchen--from classic bar foods to innovative entrees--but recently, everything that I've tasted has just been average if not worse. There are about 5 different menus, depending on what time and what day you come in, and I'm pretty sure they've changed up a lot of their selection. On our most recent visit, I ordered the vegetable sandwich. I think it may be a new menu item, and it did NOT work for me at all. The flavors were confusing (broccolini, red peppers, mushroom puree, and microgreens???), the sandwich was poorly constructed (I ended up eating the fillings with a fork and knife because they refused to stay between the bread), and while it came out warm, the fries accompanying it were ice cold. Ditto on the fries served with my husband's burger, which was both flavorless and overcooked. Of the MANY times we've come here over the years, we have never had bad service until this visit. Our server was chatting with coworkers while we sat at our table in need of condiments, silverware, and drink refills. We also sat and waited for boxes while she checked her phone by the drink station, but at least we were entertained by the pool game going on nearby. This place just isn't impressive anymore. It's sad to say goodbye to an old favorite, but I highly doubt we will return.
