Super Khorak is one of the oldest (if not the oldest) Persian supermarkets in Toronto. The owners are very nice people and over the years the supermarket has become more spacious, organized and clean; a trend that is definitely appreciated by its many loyal customers.
Aside from the regular produce which you can find at most Persian stores (although it will probably be slightly fresher here), Khorak is very good for 3 things:
1. Bakery. The bakery is constantly dishing out fresh bread and giving the customers to pick a bread literally right out of the oven before it even gets packaged! The barbari is pretty good but I find Khorak's specialty to be the whole wheat taftoon! Try this large fajita like bread toasted with some bulgarian sheep cheese (also sold in the store) and you will not be sorry! You can also request a special order for pickup.
2. Butcher shop: Super khorak currently has a very good butcher and you will find a variety of fresh meat prepared in some popular (kabob cuts) and more traditional (kaleh pacheh) styles! Their saffron marinated chicken is tasty and well priced. I find the pre-marinated meats very handy whenever I'm running late in preparations for a BBQ
3. Special seasonal fruits: Gojeh Sabz (Persian sour plums: http://www.karoon.com/services/ecards/cards_web/edibles/gojeh_sabz.jpg) and Kharbozeh (Persian melon http://thegreatpersian.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/kharbozeh2.jpg?w=280&h=211) are two examples of specialty fruit imported by Super Khorak ever since it was one of less than 5 Persian super markets in Toronto.
Overall a very consistent and clean Persian grocer. A good choice for non-Persians who might have some questions or have a hard time browsing other super markets. The takeout area is very standard and not really representative in my opinion. Furthermore, parking here will be a real pain!
