This was my first time in Toronto and I was excited to go to the ROM because oddly enough I had read about it in a book from a Canadian author. Robert Sawyer who gave accurate descriptions of the museum and just made me want to go.
My girlfriend got in for free because she works at a large children's museum back home in the U.S. but I had forgotten my ID badge so I had to pay admission but still $13.50 is pretty cheap for the size of the museum, which is huge!
They have a very large ancient Asian section of the museum that covers: Korea, China and Japan as well as a nice exhibit on the first people of island nations in the Pacific.
Another recommended gallery is about European style through the various periods, complete with rooms decorated in the style of the times.
Overall, Toronto should be lucky to have such a great museum, and to all those who criticize it's architecture, who cares? the museum is excellent and unless your an architecture snob you won't care.
