We decided to check it out after watching a tv show were a guy raved about how good the food was. We pulled up and saw that it had the old fashioned car hop drive thru thing going on. We read through the menu that was posted next to the intercom/order microphone. Before we got a chance to order through the intercom, a waiter came over with a pen and pad and jotted down our order. The menu had a lot of variety. I had the Po Boy with onion rings and my boyfriend had the signature barbecue chicken. The pricing was ok. Probably a little more than the typical fast food place but a little cheaper than a dine-in restaurant. The Po Boy is basically a large hamburger. The beef itself was under-seasoned but it was slathered in mustard. The bun was soggy and gooey. The onion rings were overcooked and super hard and difficult to chew without fear of breaking a tooth. I took a sip of my sweet tea and it was barely sweet and watered down. My boyfriend seemed to like the chicken so I tried a small piece. I was unimpressed. The fried outer portion was soft and soggy with their special sauce. I may be the minority here but I don't want anything that's fried to be wet and soggy even if the sauce is tasty. I didn't finish any of the food from the restaurant and opted for leftovers from my fridge.
Since this place gets such good reviews, I'm willing to go back and give them another chance. They may have been having a bad day so we're willing to go back. So for now, I say that the food doesn't live up to the hype.
