Like similar chain restaurants, you know what you're getting when you go to Perkins.
It's been almost 15 years since I last darkened the door of a Perkins and - if I remember correctly - that one was in Denver off Colorado Boulevard.
After being told at the nearby Walmart Lube Center that I was in for a two hour wait, I decided to have breakfast at Perkins and walked a block or two to get there.
At 715 am on a Saturday it was not busy but had a decent amount of groups of older friends and what looked like a dozen-strong book club or prayer group crammed around a large table.
The menu is large and I settled on a special Bacon Tater omelette that came with hash browns (Holy potatoes, Batman!). Pancakes were also included and when I asked the server if they had pumpkin pancakes that I could sub in for an upcharge, she looked at me for a long minute (I wasn't sure if she was stroking out?) and then offered a flat "no." Just that one word. Hilarious.
Once the food arrived, it was perfectly fine. Acceptable. Tasty. But not outstanding. The server also warmed up a bit and became more pleasant.
My only issues were these. The syrup containers were splattered with syrup. Those bad boys should be cleaned before every customer and secondly I was given a nearly empty ketchup bottle.
So, overall. Perkins is OK.
