The only redeeming element to this trip was the scenery heading out to the Grand Canyon and the pilot (Jan 26th - Windancer Sunset Flight)
After flying out to the canyon which went smoothly we, on the return stopped at the "refueling area" - not a problem - tanked up the chopper and we were all ready to go until the pilot started the engine. "Over limit detected" with safety first they decided that we would have to ditch the aircraft and wait for a replacement (45minutes in the cold wind at sunset). Two of our group including my family member were sent off on other helicopters but the rest of us stayed back.
After a very cold wait in the middle of no where another helicopter arrived. By this point it was close to pitch black and all the elements of the return leg of the tour, WHICH WE PAID TO SEE AND EXPERIENCE WERE NO LONGER AN OPTION. Instead we were told that we had to fly at a higher altitude and that we would just get the "strip tour". I didn't pay $544 x2 ($1088)for the sunset flight to watch it stranded in a desert fuel dump.
What annoyed me the most though was that when we finally returned to the heliport we were not given a "sorry for the delay and inconvenience" and even after I asked if they were going to compensate us as half the tour never happened - they just said "here is your photo from before the flight, it's free on us" - thanks for the "free photo" but I don't think that is really compensation for half a tour! Guess customer service isn't really what you get when these instances happen - especially when you guest is a local inhabitant of Las Vegas
