| - Just moved to Phoenix from Denver and was very excited to try Beckett's Table and get a feel for the restaurants here. After two weeks going to several places, I'm even more pleased about the meals we got at Beckett's! We've had some really disappointing experiences and keep comparing what we got for our money at Beckett's. For example we ate at Spoke & Wheel the night before, it was only $20 less (for our two meals together) and was shit ingredients.
I ordered the Tenderbelly pork chop since I used to live in the same neighborhood as Tenderbelly and miss them already. It was cooked perfectly - moist, a little pink, great flavour, I was very happy with it. The sides were great and I got a flight of rosé that came with some info on each wine and really enjoyed that.
We had really great service and my boyfriend enjoyed his meal, though he was disappointed some things like octopus and sweetbreads had come off the menu since his last visit (he traveled here once in a while and would make a point to eat here). Now that we've eaten elsewhere, we get it - I don't think a ton of people in Phoenix are very adventurous with their food. We hope that changes and they can put some of these offerings back on the menu.
It was also strangely quiet during dinnertime, many open tables, in Denver this place would be full with reservations for sure. I hope the monsoon rain storm that night was the reason and they are doing good, because we would like to keep coming back here. They not only have very high quality ingredients but they obviously care about food, have reasonable prices and great service.
EDIT: they have a lot of gluten-free options, we even did the bacon s'mores gluten-free (sans graham crackers) and they were amazing. I'm celiac and appreciate being able to eat somewhere and know I won't get sick.
