| - We stayed at Encore for my birthday weekend. I'll give Encore the benefit of the doubt and say it's closer to 4 stars (as opposed to 3) but I had high expectations.
Little things were annoying. Nothing major but little things. And to me, if you're paying $$$ to stay at a 5 star hotel, you're expecting nothing less than perfect.
First of all, check in took forever. I mean 30 minutes to check in. There were short, stubby lines but for some reason, the check in process took so long! When you've been on a plane for an hour, flying from a cold, cold city, itching to take off your clothes and switch to a bikini, the last thing you need is a long check in process! There was a line usher who offered us water!! That's how long it took. Felt even longer.
The room was amazing and unbelievably big. Definitely enough room for myself and my boyfriend. Our view was astonishing, facing the Wynn hotel. Try to get an EVEN number because you'll face the Wynn. Bed was super soft (bf hated it), TV was awesome (who watches TV) and lounge area was a nice place to spread out my clothes.
However, after dinner, I was lying in bed and started hearing a loud, steady noise. We were pretty close to something called a "machine room" and realized it was coming room there. So my boyfriend asked the front desk to switch rooms. This took forever too!
Our new room was a few floors down, more towards Surrender/Encore Beach Club. The front desk warned us that people have complained of the noise from there. And YES, we could hear the bass. I didn't want to bother switching again and honestly, I passed out at night anyways.
On our last morning, we were sleeping and recovering from a night out when housekeeping knocked on our door. We had the privacy light on (there's no placard) and yet, homegirl still walked in. "Housekeeping? Oh sorry, I come later."
You KILLIN ME smalls.
Other notes:
- NO toothpaste. We had to buy it downstairs and it was $5.00 for a TRAVEL (aka DINKY) size.
- Bath robes smelled kinda funky in the first room. Smelled fine in the second.
- Did not like the lemongrass shampoo.
- Encore pools fill up QUICK. Grab them while you can.
All in all, a great, beautiful hotel. I'd stay here again but not sure if I'd pay the going rate!
