Dr. Kahane is kind of a sketchy psychiatrist in that he gives you what you ask for and some things you don't, generally without questions asked. I'm alright with that because I know what I need it saves me the BS hoops to jump through. I hate doing months of pointless EKGs, blood tests, and ineffective medications to get my ADHD meds from a new doctor, especially when a three or four-month pharmaceutical journey ends in a psych ultimately rejecting me as a patient or outright refusing to give me medications because of their abuse potential. Dr. Kahane just asked me if the drugs worked me, acknowledged my records from prior clinic and wrote the script.
Downsides:
*only in office/available on Monday.
*doesn't take ahcccs (except health choice)
*visits are very short
*Dr. Kahane is pretty old (90-something). I think he fought in Israel's war for independence but I am not entirely sure.
*Dr. Kahane is not very chatty.
*You have to call and ask to get your monthly written scripts a week in advance.
Upsides:
*He just gives you the drugs you need
*He'll try you out on new stuff but respects your desires to not take any medication (as he should) without rejecting you as a patient
*He won't play with your cocktail unless you ask him to
*He only sees patients on Monday so it's pretty clear which day you should take off/schedule around
