| - This was the worst meal we had in Vegas, made even more disappointing by the fact that it was my birthday lunch.
It started off well - we were greeted promptly and seated quickly without reservations (it was about 1pm on a Friday afternoon). We entered near the bar on the far end, so it was a little weird when the hostess sent us wandering by ourselves to meet our waitress 30 feet away, rather than have her come and collect us, but OK not a big deal. We ordered drinks - blood orange cosmo for mom and a grasshopper alcoholic milkshake for me, which lead to being carded and a "happy birthday" from the waitress. All good so far. The cosmo was quite tasty and the milkshake was almost too decadent. It was good, but so rich and filling that I immediately thought I had made a strategic error vis a vis my calorie intake for the rest of the day.
There are a variety of burgers on the menu, along with a few non-burger items (not much in the way for vegetarians though). I went with the gold standard, with onion rings, while mom opted for the basic burger and sweet potato fries - both substitutions incur a slight charge of $1 or $2. The burgers themselves range from $14 for the basic variety to $28 for one with kobe beef and foie gras. The ingredients are of good quality, so especially considering the location, the cost would almost be justified except for...
1) they were not correctly cooked; we both ordered medium-well and got medium-rare. Granted, people have differing ideals of what constitutes medium-well vs. medium-rare but but a burger that is light pink throughout is nowhere near 'well' - medium or not.
2) the biggest sin - the food arrived cold. The burgers were room temperature and the sides were barely above that and cooled quickly.
We almost sent it back to the kitchen, but had already been waiting close to 45 minutes for it to arrive in the first place and had no interest in sitting there longer. I ran the rest of my burger through the microwave when we got back to our room and it was quite good when at the proper temperature. There was no salvaging the onion rings, though.
At $70 for lunch, I should be able to get my food cooked to my specifications and served at a proper temperature for enjoyable eating. I might come here if someone else wanted to go (and better yet, pay), but I would probably just order a drink and skip the food. There are far too many good burger places on and around the Strip to risk being disappointed here again.
