| - I used to enjoy pausing at the cologne section to out a light spritz of something or other, however lately hawkish sales clerks seemingly treat those samplers as a bit of a trap in order to pounce on their prey. The last time I stopped to sample I ended up purchasing over $100 bottle of Wanted (which is good stuff, btw).
The Bay is one of the last hold outs from an area of giant catch alls of everything; clothing, shoes and coffee makers. Nothing really changed over time, such as the overinflated prices just to mark down on Thursdays, skeleton staff overworked and underappreciated (with the exception of brand salesfolks at Mac) and sad piles of luggage. But it is our place, unique in Canada and a shout out to our childhood. There is still a place where you can browse a bunch of stuff, and along the horizon of glorious overpriced merch, are Canadian branded gloves, touques and scarfs.
The one I visit, at Hillcrest, is always fun to walk through and do that aforementioned browsingm. Make sure to stop but and drop a few sheckles and avoid that Sears thing!
