  • I have been to a lot of hotels in my time. Some are great, some not so great, but Le Meridien Charlotte has won the distinction of being the WORST HOTEL I have ever stayed at. This is suppose to be part of the Startwood Luxury Portfollio. In realty it is not. Although the hotel itself has a nice decor if you put lipstick on a pig you still have a pig! I had to wait 15 minutes because there was 1 check in clerk. Finally the Manager stepped up and checked people in. So far not a good first impression. The room itself was nice, and offered a great view of Uptown Charlotte (in the distance). This hotel is not really located in the walkable section of Uptown which I liked because I was looking for a nice quite weekend away. The bathroom offers only a shower (no tub) and is quite small. After checking in I was going to order room service but no one answered on my 3 attempts to call them. I finally just walked down to the bar and ordered a drink and a hamburger. Both were good. Not as good as the staff made them out to me, and I was taken aback by the fact it came with no fries or sides. The Butterscotch Budino was different than I had it before and was quite enjoyable. It was a little saltier and a little sweeter than in past times so the shortbread cookies served with it really help cut the flavoring so it wasn't over powering. Retiring to my room to read a book I was bothered by the LOUD noises coming from the room ACROSS THE HALL.... Not next door to me.. ACROSS THE HALL. I called the front desk to have them send the manager up so he can hear how loud it was. 10 minutes later the noise is still going on and no manager so I walked down to the front desk where the manager more or less told me that the hotel has a noise policy starting at 11pm so until then enjoy your room! I immediately called Starwood Preferred Guest services requesting a new hotel. They were very helpful and accommodating and as they were finding me another hotel the Manager moved me to another room. Again, the room was nice, but the Bathroom was the size of a closet. The only reason this hotel is getting one star is because the bed is really comfortable. I was able to get a restful night sleep but their was no Valet to take my car when I returned, yet I was charged for Valet Parking. The next morning hoping to get a nice rest in I was awoken by a screaming child running up the hall and a screaming parent running after them. That is the class of people that go to this hotel. People with no manners or common sense. Why I can't figure out as it is not within walking distance to Uptown Bars and Clubs. I always laugh when I see someone write as a tip pick another hotel. However reading the other reviews of this property I see that statement more times than not. So head everyones advice. Pick another hotel. My two night stay was cut short and I moved to the Hyat House to try to salvage my weekend get-a-way.
