| - C and I stopped here on the way to his first performance in AYT production of My Son Pinocchio. The place is pretty cool. I love the patio out back that just oozes relaxation.
Our server was Dylan. He was totally on his game. Attentive when we needed him but didn't make us feel rushed or bothered. He engaged C about his car books / magazines and as far as I'm concerned, if a server gives my son the time of day, that server is way ahead of the game at our table. You wouldn't believe how many servers disregard C which is funny because he knows quite a lot about food. (gets it from his old man :0)
C & I started with an order of Calamari Fries ($9.00). C was excited to see this on the menu because he loves the Calamari at The Elephant Bar which cuts the Calamari into fries (strips) just like here. The Calamari Fries were cooked perfectly. Golden breading surrounding a tender strip of Calamari. Yummy. The negative here was the portion size, for 9 bucks, could have been a bit larger.
C ordered the Cheese Crisp (HH $5.00) which was actually a Quesadilla. It was quite large for the money. Great deal. C loved it. The tortilla was nicely browned in spots, the cheese was oowey gooey goodness. Winner winner cheese crisp dinner.
I ordered the Carnitas Tacos ($7.50). These tacos (3) were decent little tacos. They put down double corn tortillas and top them with the yummy pork, shredded lettuce, cheese & cilantro. On the side was Spanish rice, beans and some tasty salsa. The pork was tender and very flavorful. My only complaint would be that the kitchen needs to drain the pork for a few more seconds. On my tacos the pork was so wet it made the top tortilla unusable. Not that big of a deal.
C & I both had lemonade ($2.50 ea)
Great service, reasonable prices, clean groovy dining space & patio, great Calamari, great Cheese Crisp, great Port Tacos. 4.5 Stars
