Was pleasantly surprised by this place. Was expecting at least semi-dumpiness given the price and the surrounding area (nothing but Quiki-Wed, titty bars and tattoo parlors) but they really seem to be making an effort with it. A small army of housekeepers is always buzzing around cleaning up and the room was basic but tidy, comfy and had a pretty big TV.
Surprised by the lack of noise as well ... maybe I just got super lucky with neighbors but I heard not a peep in two nights. Fortunate as the air unit has one of those super-weak fans that you can't use for white noise. But the AC worked well.
Only a few minor downsides -- no real breakfast, just coffee / tea / hot chocolate. No fridge/micro in rooms though they do have a communal microwave in the lobby for your oatmeal and ramen purchased from Walgreens down the street. Also not much food without walking numerous blocks, and no laundry on site -- closest is a few blocks down Charleston behind the 99 Cent Only store. The $100 deposit is also quite a bit for a Super 8 but I assume this is the main thing that keeps the abundant local bummery from infesting the place, so I'm letting it slide.
Not sure if I would bring kids here due to the surrounding area and the bums outside who beg for stuff then shit-talk you when you don't give it to them, but the actual hotel itself seemed very safe and clean. Clientele seemed to mostly be foreign tourists looking for a deal. Good for when you want to be near downtown but the downtown casino-hotel prices are all jacked up due to some stupid event.
