I was taken to the Le Tigre by a friend of mine who's relocated to Madison. He kept saying, "You gotta see this place". I must admit that I thought he'd lost his mind when we pulled up front and all I could see around me was a shopping mall, but when the door opened my jaw dropped.
I was impressed by the vibe(how long did it take to collect all this tiger memorabilia anyway?!) and the juke box. I'm a big fan of all kinds of music and it was nice to see the selection on the box there. Finally, something without a bunch of techno junk thrown in. The bartender was courteous and laid back. Now I was raised in the South, born 55 years ago when people understood about manners and polite conversation. I travel the road for my living and it's nice to finally come across a place that is laid back, where you can get a drink from a guy that says "Thank you".
I don't much appreciate people who can't speak a whole sentence without swearing, so I appreciate the 'no swearing' rule. It's not colorful language, it's reckless trash. Nobody's trying to take away your freedom of speech. They're trying to teach you some class. Go back to your trailer park, little boy. If being drunk and loud and swearing is your idea of a good time, you don't belong in a hip joint with classy people in the first place and you don't understand the culturall importance of keeping places like the Le Tigre around. They make bouncers for guys like you. Scram.
