Ok - first off you need to know that I am normally a big fan of the Hilton hotels. I'm a Silver HHonours member, love their chain, and try to stay in one as much as possible. I have also stayed in Hiltons (and other nice hotels) in 5 continents and multiple locations and countries. So to say that I was appalled that this sorry excuse of a place called itself a Hilton (and a Doubletree no less) just doesn't compute.
Sorry service:
Person checking in seemed pissed off to check us in.
I called TWICE to confirm I would have a king sized bed. I was given a twin upon checking in. When I came back down and complained. the person behind the counter simply told me she saw the note and the acknowledgement but that there were no more rooms available. After I basically blasted her out about how this is not the service I expect from a Hilton property, a room magically became available on the Hilton Executive floor (usually given to HHonors members, which I was).
Also, they didn't give us the standard Doubletree Welcome cookie (even though I asked - they were apparently out and I was "Just Out of Luck:)
The corridors were dinghy and didn't look like they had been swept in a while. The room had a pretty solid draft coming in from around the cracks in the window edges, which meant the room was consistently cold.
The lady in the morning while checking out was no better - didn't get as much as a Thank you for your business. Asked for a good recommendation on a breakfast place. She pushed the in house restaurant, and when told I wanted to explore the area simply said she didn't know of any other place.
And all this would have been fine for a 1 star roadside motel. But this is a Hilton Doubletree. And they charge you like one. I am most certainly not coming back to this location ever.
