| - Every month I get a ravenous craving for fish, especially oysters!!! My boyfriend and I were originally headed to the oyster bar inside palace station, but the wait was easily 2 hours... minimum! I certainly had no time for that, especially with my mood swings, so we decided to head to shucks.
Upon arrival, I was a bit concerned since the ambience was pretty dark and loud since there was a party of about 20 rowdy folks and about a few people at the bar. It's self seating so we sat by the bar since we'd probably get faster service and I was right. We had an awesome hostess that recommended specials and was prompt when we needed her. Here's what we ordered:
2 dozen oysters
Fish n chips
Lobster roll
Bloody Mary
Blue moon
Oysters -were pretty fresh and had to stop myself before I ate all 24.
Fish and chips- beer battered cod was crispy, not oily, and perfect seasoning; the fries were on the flimsy side and skinny, but still nicely seasoned
Lobster roll- wasn't what I expected. I thought there'd be chunks of lobster, but instead looked like crab meat. The bun was nicely toasted and overall had a nice taste. My boyfriend doesn't like celery, and the roll had lots of it, but whether he was just too hungry or not, he still enjoyed the roll.
Bloody Mary- had the perfect amount of spice, and blue moon.. Well it's a blue moon.
Overall, I enjoyed the food and staff and will definitely return for the oysters and fish and chips. The prices are generous too, but will definitely return for those $1 oyster Thursday special!!!
