I always enjoy staying at The Grandview via RCI. And I expect to offered an "update" presentation on timeshare ownership when I check in. Avi offered me a $100 gift card to receive "updates". I asked how long does the presentation last. Avi replied "There is no time limit, as long as you want to stay". I replied with..."so I stay for 3 minutes and state it's not for me - you'll give me my "gift" and I can be on my way. He replied yes.
Today, I sauntered all over the South Point Casino with the nice sales rep and ending with a buffet lunch. The food is typical Vegas style buffet food - not very appetizing. I have very bad knees and walked at least a half mile. I was in extreme pain by the time we circled back to the model timeshare unit. Nicely decorated unit, but it has black dated appliances, and stove has coil burners. Need to update to the 21st century.
After listening to the sales rep personal stories for 2 3/4 hours, I stated I was done. He hadn't even gotten to the pricing. When his manager (who was summoned to try to "save me" and he gave me the outrageous price, I stated "why would I buy from a developer when I can buy the very same unit on Ebay for 1 cent on the dollar"? Then they tried to show me lower priced deals...I walked to the escalator.
I was escorted to the get my "gift". I was told that I needed to sit down have an exit interview (after 3 sales people tried to persuade me....give me a break!). I said I've heard enough and I was told that I could leave anytime I want and get my gift. The exit interview woman said, I can't give you your gift until you answer 6 questions. I stated I don't want to answer any questions. She said you must answer the questions. I said "then I'm calling the police to report a kidnapping".
Then she brings over Mr. India Manager (with very bad acne). He asked me the six questions. At 2:50 p.m. I repeated myself again, that I have been here since 12 noon to get the updates and receive my gift. He stated the updates can take up 2 1/2 - 4 hours!!!! I retorted "That was not disclosed to me by Avi. Avi said I could end the presentation at any time and get my gift". Mr. India Manager said it's printed on the contract you signed...I said I didn't sign any contract. He said I didn't read the fine print. Mr. India Manager further barked, you expect a gift for not sitting through the updates? I said you had 2 3/4 hours to try to give me the updates. He was trying to make me feel guilty for taking a gift when I hadn't taken the bait to buy. Again...why would anyone buy from the developer???
I finally made my way back to the Grandview front desk and inquired about taking a timeshare tour. I was provided with the very same information that Avi stated several days before. Then I advised the nice gentlemen that I had just come from the presentation and advised them of all the incidents which occurred along the way. He stated Vacation Village took over the sales department and they're trying to get the sale people to change...but they haven't been successful!
Bottom line....stay away from these oily snake oil sales people. Buy you timeshare on E-Bay.
