Harkins has fallen behind when it comes to customer experience at the movies. They have staff that seem distracted or unhappy to be there. Full disclosure, I worked at a Harkins as my first part-time job in High School. They did everything they could to pay their employees the least they could. From making you punch out for half hour lunches for short three hour shifts, to not paying you overtime for any hours over 40. It shows in the customer service.
The actual seats and screens are sub-par when compared to AMC's full leather power recliners. Harkins still has itchy, slightly rocking, squeaky seats with no leg room and screens that make you feel like the first run movie is being played at the dollar theater. Small screens and uncomfortable seats hinder what is supposed to be an immersive cinematic experience.
