  • 10/26/16 Pancreatitis 6.5 lb female Yorkie, Hanna Jo (HJ), 11 years old I wish to share this frightening experience with others. We honestly do not know what triggered the Pancreatitis and had no prior knowledge of the condition. Thursday 10/20/16: 3:00 am. HJ vomited. Late afternoon that same day she had diarrhea twice. Friday 10/21/16: Feed her plain boiled chicken & rice with a little low sodium broth. Several small feedings throughout the day. Saturday 10/22/16: 5:30 am. small formed poop (not diarrhea) with blood at the end of it. Blood drops on floor & patio, bum area was strawberry red from her "dragging" her bum on the patio to wipe. No vomiting. Took her at 7:00 am to Cheyenne Tonopah Animal Hospital. Dr. Vanderlinden diagnosed Pancreatitis and prescribed medication and treatment. Dr. said add Pumpkin to the chicken & rice for fiber & use Desitin to clear up her bum. Sunday 10/23/16: 4:00 am vomiting 3 times. Back to Dr. V for a shot of Cerenia to stop the vomiting. The strawberry bum was almost completely cleared up from the Desitin. That entire day HJ was really down. She barely moved and could hardly walk when I'd take her outside to potty. She would just drop down and be still. She had not vomited again, nor did she go poop all day. However, she did eat & drink when offered. That was a saving grace. By late afternoon we truly believed she would not make it through the night. She was terribly out of sorts and feeble. Completely limp and lifeless. Monday 10/24/16: She was still pitiful, mostly lying down quietly, occasionally hobbling feebly about then dropping down again. By late that afternoon she was about 50% herself again. No vomiting or diarrhea. Tuesday 10/25/16: HJ had improved remarkably. Wednesday 10/26/16: It was as though none of it had happened at all. She was completely herself again. Being her spoiled little self, hold me, pet me, yap yap yap... We are so grateful to Dr. V for his quick prognosis and help. We truly believe if we had waited even a few more hours to seek treatment we may well have lost our beloved Hanna Jo. It really felt that dire to us. Ed & Sandi F. Very satisfied customers of Cheyenne Tonopah Animal Hospital for 30 plus years.
