| - The quality of the sushi we had is 100% five stars, however, what drops it from five to two is the overall experience.
It was a Friday night, we did not have reservations and called Sen of Japan to see if they could squeeze us in. The first person that picked up the phone did not speak English that well, asked me to hold and came back on line again five mins later. I inquired about going in for dinner and then she said hold on. At that time an English speaking person got on the phone and said that if we wanted to, we could come in at 7:30 and if there was tables available they would sit us, otherwise put us in the sushi bar. Okay, since the sushi was highly rated we decided to give it at try. This place is in the burbs off the strip and is about a $30 taxi ride each way including tip,
When we arrived, there was no hostess at the area where the counter was so we just sat in the chairs waiting. A man came up to us, looked at us and then sent another person to come to us. She asked if we had reservations and I recognized her voice and told her we had spoken on the phone and she told us to swing in to see what they could do, and she said, oh yeah I remember, please wait. From our view we observed two tables that each sat two people that where empty for 20 minutes. Two workers came in and looked at us as more people where arriving and hoovering around, yet when we inquired about the two empty tables we were ignored.
One employee greeted another employee as she arrived for work with the phrase, "Welcome to Hell".
After 45 minutes we sat at the sushi bar and the sushi chef said I will be with you in a minute. 15 mins went by, and we ordered Miso , Edamame, Tempura Sweet Potato, to start. It arrived 20 mins later. after that was finished, we just waiting for his que to order as he was too busy yelling at the other sushi chefs for making mistakes. After being at the Sushi bar for a total of 45 mins, (those two empty tables still empty), we ordered 28 pieces of sushi.
The first order arrived 15 minutes after we ordered and then it started to trickle in a bit faster.
The quality of the sushi is by far some of the best I have had and in my opinion would beat anything in the Bay Area for quality.
However, the overall 3 hour dining experience was not worth it.
The price is reasonable, we spent $180 on the food + $60 for the taxi.
But again, it was perhaps in my opinion the worse managed Japanese restaurant and poorly trained employees I have experienced in my life time.
We won't go back
