  • This was a true let down of an experience. Food was clearly not fresh. The ambiance was a classic tacky Italian theme, which you could find at any little Italian spot. I love tacky so this worked for me, but the power cords all visible did not. The service was slow and we waited way too long to even be greeted. About 8 minutes. The specials were on a piece of paper and not explained so we were off to a slow start. On to the food. The olive oil that sat in a clearly old reused bottle was spoiled and not pleasing. When we did get bread after a wait it was good but upon the refresh for the bread it was a focaccia instead of the baguette like before, that was not warm and delicious like the first batch. The server also had balsamic in a bullet that he spilled on the napkin it was resting on before it got to the table. Just sloppy service points. The burrata got there and was not a bruschetta like it said on the menu. A lot of prosciutto on the plate, 7 total grape tomatoes, and burrata. It was decent, but arrived before we got the bread mentioned above. Next was the cannellini and pasta soup and Gorgonzola pear salad. The soup was under seasoned and sloshed on the rim of the bowl. It was undersalted and definitely beans from a can versus fresh like we were told. The pears and bleu cheese dressing were also from a can being mushy on the pear front, and processed on the dressing front. Overall a let down, but appeased us once we added some salt and pepper. Entree was the gnocchi in tomato sauce with mozzarella and fusilli pesto with mushrooms and pancetta. The fussili was decent overall but bland like the rest of the courses. The gnocchi was not even close. The sauce was definitely out of a can and blended with some basil, so nothing to write home about. The actual gnocchi was shameful at best. They had the texture of mashed potatoes bound with a touch of flour and no salt. It smooshed into the side of the bowl with the back of the fork, and left imprints as it was not either mixed properly, or boiled and blanched properly. It was definitely not seared in the pan for texture that the dish needed, but if it was cooked properly originally we would have been able to look past that as it is a preference for crispy. When I made sure to explain how it is not properly cooked, our server joe (joeseph as it read on the receipt) told us there's nothing they could do to fix it. Offered no apology. And still charged us for it at the end. Never spoke to, or even saw a manager on the floor. This would have definitely helped us to explain further how to help with future guests. I have been in the hospitality industry for 15 years holding multiple chef titles specializing in overhauling restaurants systems and standards. I want to make sure that they can improve on the finer points and make downtown chandler that much better for food.
