| - This is my review of my emergency molar extraction on December 1st.
On Thursday, November 30th I was diagnosed with an abscess under an old root canal and crown on my lower right side. My options were to have the tooth re-treated or extracted. Thursday night the pain became so severe, I prayed (pleaded) to have my tooth taken out that next day. At 07:00 I began calling around to oral surgeons close to where I live, but became increasingly worried because it was a Friday, and I was reaching answering machines or told the next opening was three weeks away. I didn't know how I was going to manage over the weekend, let alone weeks. After widening my search, I called Old Town Scottsdale Oral Surgery. My phone call was answered promptly, and when I explained my situation, I was relieved to hear them say to come in at 11:00 am. They explained I would wait a short while but would fit me into their schedule; I was so relieved and thankful that I started crying on the phone. She explained that I would need a driver who could wait with me during my procedure, as my plan for getting into an uber was against policy. Luckily, last minute my friend agreed to drive and I arrived by 11:00 am. The front desk was considerate and communicative, keeping us updated while we were in the waiting room. Once I was taken back I was so nervous I was shaking, but the assistant was observant and attentive and offered me a blanket. She answered my questions and made small talk to ease my nerves. I thanked her for fitting me in that day, and she mentioned it was their office holiday party that evening and because of their adjusted hours, there was an opening, hallelujah! When Dr. Lamb came in he discussed the plan and procedure, and was kind and compassionate seeing I was overwhelmed; I also thanked him for fitting me into his schedule. The molar was extracted in 45 minutes under anesthesia, and I received a bone graft, stitches, and an IV antibiotic. When I woke up, I could hear the assistant explaining that Dr. Lamb would call later that evening to follow up. He did call that evening to follow up, in the middle of their office party and gave counsel on pain control, my respects. The healing process went well, I required pain medicine mainly in the first two days, and was on only Iburpofen after that. The stitches came out in two weeks, followed by the protective membrane in another two weeks. Each visit to the office has been great; they answered each and every question. I highly recommend Dr. Lamb and Old Town Scottsdale Oral Surgery. I can't say enough about them and how grateful I am for how they helped me in an unexpected and nerve-wracking situation.
