  • Well worth the hour wait on a Friday evening: they've got burnt ends! We first tried burst ends in South Carolina and have been searching for them ever since. We put our names in at Midwood Smokehouse and loved that they texted us when our table was ready an hour later [we walked down the street to the Thirty Beaver, the sketchiest dive bar EVER, while we waited!] We'd heard great things about Midwood but were ecstatic upon examining the menu that they serve burnt ends! We ordered a large burnt ends plate to split with BBQ baked beans, bacon wrapped jalapeños and hushpuppies for sides. I'd skip the baked beans next time, but everything else was stellar. Honestly, I wasn't super hungry, so it was easy to split the large plate, but if we hadn't been tasting as many things in Charlotte as we could, we would definitely have had to order two plates. Also, I was surprised that the large $18.00 plate wasn't bigger then it was. Again, we weren't at full hunger, but if we were, I would've been disappointed. Midwood is a little pricier then most BBQ joints, but it is dang tasty. I might recommend grabbing an appetizer at a local restaurant while you wait instead of going balls-to-the-wall here.
