I had several computers brought into the store and now I question the legitimacy of those interactions.
My laptop was having issues. I could hear that the computer was on but couldn't see anything. I took it into the store and they said they would call with a diagnostic. Later that day they said I needed a new wire only and that it would be around $180 all in. I wasn't concerned with the price and told them to go ahead. They informed me that they would need to order the wire, which takes about a two to three days. A week later, when I had heard nothing, I called the store only to find out that they hadn't done anything and even forgot to order the part. At this point, I still wasn't concerned. I told them that I needed to get a file of the laptop and they said it would be no problem.
I drive to the store and tell them who I am. They gentleman I was speaking to goes to the back, finds the laptop, and plugs it into a monitor. He messes around with it for a little while and then ultimately takes the hard drive to another devices and plugs it in. That's when he tells me that no one had run any diagnostics and the hard drive was completely fried. He said there was no information on it and the laptop was completely useless. At this point he says he can throw it away for me and I tell him to reassemble it and that I would do something with it. I was deeply upset because this laptop had a lot of personal files and photos that I wanted to keep.
After getting the laptop back, I called my father and let him know about the situation. He asked to take a look at it and I dropped it off at his house. About an hour later he told me that it only needed a new wire (the same one that was going to be ordered by the store) and that he was able to retrieve all of the data.
I am not going to chalk this up to anything nefarious but of the three items I have taken in, two of the three were bad and needed to be disposed of. I'm not taking the chance of using this company again.
