| - It's hard traveling with a medium sized dog but with so many hotels in Las Vegas, you'd expect there are many hotels that would allow pets. Unfortunately, this isn't the case. Your selection is limited to motel chains. Then I found Candlewood so I decided to try it for myself.
Pros:
1) Room was cleaner than I expected. I'd say much cleaner than those big hotels on the strip. Everything in the room was in working order. No clogged toilet. No tobacco burn on the curtains. Only thing that I found wrong was the clock on the VCR. It was off by 1 hour.
2) There is an area for dogs to relieve themselves. Hotel also supplies free poop bags. (This area was covered with pebbles, not grass. My dog had no problem pooing/peeing there.)
3) Rooms are well equipped. It has mini-kitchen with basic items such as utensils, microwave, toaster, pots, dishes, coffee maker, and a medium sized fridge. You know my fridge was constantly stocked with beers. :-)
4) I'm used to free hotel rooms since I used to frequent Vegas a lot.
But at 60 dollars a night during thanksgiving weekend, I'm not complaining about staying at this hotel. (They burned me with $75 non-refundable pet fee though.)
Cons:
1) When I was walking my dog in the parking lot after dinner, I saw cars with people sitting inside of them and with engine running. As I approached these cars, they would start driving away or backing out of the parking lot or turn on their headlights. Hmmm....drug dealing? Prostitution?
2) At night, surrounding area is dark and quiet. It's very eerily. I would not walk around the neighborhood. Hotel parking lot is well lit.
3) It's pretty far from the strip. I used my car to drive to the strip.
4) Irresponsible dog owners were not cleaning after their dogs. I saw several dog poos. Please clean up after your pets!
