| - The pros:
-- Got a one bedroom balcony suite on the 16th floor with a legit view for $105 a night + tax, tag, title, resort charge, food, drink, etc etc bla bla.
-- It's attached to the MGM (kinda)
-- It was well appointed with lots of granite, a massive master bathroom I would prefer to have over my own, a second full bathroom, a full kitchen with high end appliances, a nicely sized master bedroom and separate living room, lots of windows and and a large balcony.
-- There are "do not disturb" and "service room" buttons next to the door. Seemingly no matter what time of day, if you push that "service room" button, a maid is going to come and clean your room for you. That is pretty awesome.
-- There is an in-room coffee maker and coffee is provided daily. Most Vegas resorts do not provide coffee makers in the room in effort to force you into the casino for go-juice.
-- Staff I dealt with face to face were very friendly and accommodating.
-- You can room charge at the MGM's restaurants.
-- Wifi was free. Well, kind of. Resort charge and all.
-- Extra double bonus; valet parking is still free. I feel like that is a big deal because parking has gotten pretty pricey at most all of the resorts.
The cons:
-- Tower 3 is about 17 light years walk from the actual MGM. Honestly would not have booked it if I had realized this up front. I'm in decent physical shape and have no problem walking, it just takes way too long to walk ANYWHERE from Tower 3. At least the walkway is enclosed and air conditioned.
-- Parking isn't actually free. There's like a $35 per night "resort charge". So, you really do pay for parking in a round-about way. Regardless of that, my rate was still only about $140 even with the resort charge which I would consider to be very good for a 1,000 sq ft unit such as the one I had.
-- The Tower 3 Front Desk and circular driveway / valet parking close at 10pm. So even if you decide to Uber it instead of hoof it, you have to return via Tower 2 if after 10pm. And if you're out somewhere in your own vehicle and return after 10, it's going to get stuck at Tower 2 valet until you retrieve it again. MOAR WALKING.
-- There was no furniture on the awesome balcony. I called down and asked for furniture. I was denied with a "we are not allowed to have furniture on the balconies". Interesting, because I can clearly see furniture on some of the Tower 2 balconies from my 16th floor balcony. So I guess I'll stand and admire their furniture.
-- There was one pillow for the sleeper sofa. I called down and asked for one more spare pillow and a spare blanket. I was told "we try NOT to provide extra pillows or blankets in the room but I'll see what I can do". WHAT???? Can you, just this once, try to NOT NOT provide an extra???? Two pillows and a blanket did eventually arrive.
-- The 1k sq ft unit has a full kitchen replete with Sub-Zero fridge, Miele oven/range and Bosch dish washer. Top brand names. What it was NOT replete with were plates, cups, glassware, utensils, paper towels, or any detergent with which to wash dishes should we have actually had them. There was a free glow stick under the sink though! Score! We made sandwiches on napkins generously donated by Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris.
While I have a lot of cons, the price was right and it is a nice place. Next time, though, I'll stay at the Cosmo or Marriott Vacation Club and get Marriott points.
