  • I have unfortunately had a very disappointing experience shopping for an engagement ring with Aaron (theDiamondshopper). I was pleased with my interactions prior to trying to secure a diamond. Aaron found one that he really recommended which I also thought would be a good fit. I paid the shipping deposit and awaited the diamond to arrive. In that time, in discussion with my girlfriend, we found that we would not be completely happy with the grade of the selected diamond even though it would be completely eye clean and have ideal light characteristics. I explained that we wanted to look into other diamonds as well as understanding that the deposit would be used for return shipping. His response was that he didn't think he could find a better diamond with those characteristics in that price range. That he was super busy and thought it best to look for someone else to help me find what I wanted. I understand that he really stands behind the diamonds he selects and believes them to be the best option. I falsely believed that he would accommodate customer's preferences. I know that in essence, I may be asking to pay more for a diamond which may not be as good. Aaron completely disregarded this request. He did not discuss with me possibilities in changing the diamond parameters to explore more options or expanding my budget (which I was willing to do). I had also previously mentioned that I was willing to wait for good options and did not impose any deadlines. Instead of trying any of the above, Aaron told me he was too busy to help and chose to dismiss a customer. This was a complete shock based on all the positive reviews I had read about other individual's experiences with him. Buying an engagement ring is no small cost no matter what an individual's budget. Therefore, I think you really have to trust that whoever you work with. Just as importantly, that they try their best to make you as the customer happy, within reason. In my experience, Aaron was too busy with other customers to even try to accommodate my preferences. Even if this is an isolated case, I believe it is one too many.
