| - I went on an intentional SWEET REPUBLIC fact finding mission after my friend, Kylie, told me all about it. I caught her enthusiasm and pride in selling this ice cream (she works there but was not on shift when I stopped in).
I went to the Bethany Home / 16th Street location. Beware: the store very easy to miss near the bustling intersection. The ice cream store is set off the street and has a very non-assumming storefront.
The owner, Jan, profoundly passionate about the ice cream, offered me samples and explained the natural pure ingredients that goes into her product. Everything is picked out with care and made by staff. The vanilla beans and nuts are roasted, real mint leaves used, highest quality cream, etc.
I had a pint hand packed then Jan offered me a home made marshmallow. She lightly torched it for me. You might ask, "what difference does home made matter?" To which I respond "Oh MAN! Golly Gee!! Miss Molly!!" The taste was totally surprising and Sensational!!
Our ice cream of brown butter pecan and salted caramel was everything Kylie said it would be--- creamy, fluffy, delicate in flavor, refreshing with very distinctive flavors. It felt healthy -- if that makes any sense .
We plan on returning to taste the many varieties of artisan ice cream. I want my next bowl to have a roasted marshmallow on top. It will be worth any distance you have to drive, walk, bike or crawl from.
