| - I have to admit, when Louie first walked out on stage and began, I thought it would be a painful night, I really did. BUT, he totally slayed; it was hilarious. Even the opener, who seated everyone--and cleaned up afterwards (haha!), threw in some hilarious zingers...... the older religious guy also make me bust up more than I thought I would.
Louie's style is very dry and although more on the "glass half empty" side, there is a certain lightness that comes from it, which makes for a very positive experience. Some may say he wasn't interested in being there but that's his style, he was smiling- he was having fun. All I saw when he was up there was that naive kid on "Coming to America" --he still has that unmistakeable smile! You can tell he is a very humble guy; he really tried making eye contact with every audience member and was seriously asking everyone to submit our input after the show.
Although it's family friendly -don't bring the kids, seriously, none of the kids in the venue understood his jokes but they would burst out laughing at his impressions since he used funny voices. It embarrassed the parents and other adults in the venue were not impressed.
Overall, Louie Anderson LIVE at the Plaza was a total win, I'm shocked he's not a bigger venue. If you have a chance to see Louie, do it!
