  • I experienced severe waiter envy, once again, at Delux. I actually had not gone to Delux since I bit into a chicken last time I wrote this review. But it was late at night, I was craving Chimay on tap and sweet potato fries and I knew they had Youngs Double Chocolate Stout on tap too. Plus it wasn't too bad of a drive from Tempe. We heard Blonde Redhead coming in, a nice sonic surprise, but from there service plummeted. The host didn't even get up and as we went to the bar to look at the beers, he deadpanned "You guys are just sitting at the bar right" and didn't even look up from the stand. Okkkaaayyyyy. Sat down at a table and our waiter ...no, our dude who brought us food once in a while, lets call him Noah, said "what do you guys want to drink". Ok. So we gave him the orders, brought back delicious Chimay, then came back 1/2 way through the drink (btw, you dont drink Chimay fast) and said "ready yet?". We first got the basket of mixed, which we demolished and def. better than last time we were here. Tim ordered the traditional delux burger on whole wheat bun and asked if it could be cut in half (his mustache has odd handling needs) and Noah deadpanned "it already is like that". If he could have said DUH at the end, I wouldn't have been surprised. As his burger was done halfway, he brought him the Youngs Double Chocolate Stout cause I was still working on my Chimay. Fair game. However, Tim was done with the burger and we sat there. And watched the other waiter be so much better than Noah. The other waiter smiled, asked how people liked fries, the OTHER waiter even took our empty plates and glasses for us it was sitting there for so long! I wanted other waiter. I waited for Noah. Finally, I GOT up and ordered my own beer (Dogfish Punkin Ale) from the bartender and ran my card with her instead of Noah getting that tip from me. While I was at the bar, he came back to our table and asked if we wanted dessert or if I wanted another beer! A little late, Noah, don't you think? Tim still ordered a chocolate chip cookie, and Noah dropped it off with the plate and two forks. Ooo, was it warmed up and goo....no. We went to get our forks-bascially cold and crispy. Okay. So we did manage to fork it in half and eat it with our hands. At this point Noah swoops to Tim and says in a loud, weirdly hopeful voice "Another beer?" "Uh, no just the check, thank you". The most Noah does is at the end is when he drops off the bill "HAVE A GOOD NIGHT". Every single quote from him is verbatim. No hello, hows it going, have you been here before, HOW IS ANYTHING, nothing. It really wasn't that busy and it took what could have been a laid back night of burgers and fries and delicious beer into a frustrated and annoyed night. If I come here, in another year or two, I will sit at the bar like I should have done originally and until I cannot resist the Chimay. But two horrible services like that in a row? That is bullshit. I'll borrow a shopping cart from my own friendly neighborhood bum and fill it with my own goddamn Safeway frozen sweet potato fries while drinking Natty Ice, thank you.
