| - TRAshley Furniture & their finance company Acceptance Now is a SCAM.
So my boyfriend & I got a living room set for $1,600 that's including tax. (This was our first time as purchasers, so of course they're going to take advantage of us) When we went to get a living room set we told the finance people multiple times that we would pay off the couch right then & there....BUT no, not acceptable & we got pressured into it. "Help your credit this & that." Well, we have paid a total of $764.29 towards the couch already. In January I was told that we only owed a little over $1,000. We both had the money to pay off the couch but NOW we don't because we owe more then what we saved aside. Since the 90 days is over (they won't budge on their stupid little scam contract), we now owe them $1,557 before the payment I just gave them it was $1,728. So let me explain the scam that happened to us & thousands of other people.
Do you're research before getting suckered into doing payments, then paying off the couch. if you have the money to pay in full, do it. Don't do the payments because you only get half of the contract to sign. The other half is forged.
Yesterday night we went in to confront them about this issue, with the papers they gave us. Now having to owe them more then what the set is worth. If we were to give them the $1,557, we will have given them a grand total of $2,321.29! THAT IS NOT WHAT WE SIGNED FOR! We should only have to give them $1,000 that we owe. So the idiot we talked to with Acceptance Now, threw a paper in our face (making us look like morons) saying after the 90 days is up the couch goes back to retail value. Well, we got the paper they never gave us finally...Not only did he try to make us look stupid, we ended up being right. NO WHERE on any piece of the contract does it say after 90 days the amount we owed would double. Not to mention, they did not tell us this information. So pretty much for the past almost 4 months I have given them free money that is no where to be seen. Oh & if you're wondering how much their APR is, its not stated on any of the papers you sign & receive. After doing our research & calculations, the APR is 70%! You might as well just buy two sets with it being that high.
So after doing our legal research, we have concluded it is illegal not to put the interest on the contract for you to see for yourself. At this point we can sue the furniture company & finance company.
Yes, we will be going legal if the amount does not come down to what we ACTUALLY owe OR if we cannot return it & get our money back. I will be getting my $764.29 back.
Right now we are not in the position to give them $1,557 without struggling afterwards. We both work full over-time careers & have much more important bills to pay.
We have paid on time each payment that came up. We read through the contract that we were given (not the other half they don't give you to sign) & no where does it say that the amount would jump up to $700. Our 90 days ended on a day, 90 days ago that we didn't purchase the couch. SO, please explain where that makes sense please.
Buyers beware, please do your research before going through Acceptance Now. You have a better chance of going through a real bank if you truly need to make payments.
Not to mention, the couch is already breaking down of only having it for 3 months. So what does that tell you about the quality of their overpriced furniture? Exactly the reason I have given them the name TRAshley.
