  • What attracted me to District One and avoided District 9's drama altogether with Katniss? Lobster pho... duh. Did we end up actually ordering this $60 sucker? Nope, but we did end up feasting on some pretty good New-American/bougie Vietnamese at this trendy restaurant off the Strip. It's a sports bar vs. Asian restaurant that is sure to satisfy your hunger needs. My friends and I came during our recent Vegas trip since everyone was raving about how great the food is even if it's a bit pricier than other spots. My large group of eight ended up ordering a bunch of appetizers and mains for ourselves that were quite delicious. Warning: their portion sizes here are fairly generous and you can really get full off an appetizer and maybe half a main! We started off with their oxtail fries ($12) which came in a huge bowl with plenty of oxtail meat and a fried egg on top. You have to mix and mash all the ingredients in the bowl together to get the best effect. We ended up taking some home because there was no way we were finishing that bowl. We also got some wings to share and they were decent hot wings. Crispy and tender, and definitely curbed our cravings. As for me, I went for the big boy bowl and got the "Big Bone Soup," ($18) which was essentially a large chunk of meaty bones with bone marrow. They do not play when it comes to the name- for the bowl is simply big. You cut off slices of flank from the bone and dig out the delicious bone marrow hidden inside. Simply amazing and incredibly filling. The waitress convinced me to get a side bowl of pho noodles for $5 which you honestly don't need given how much food is in the soup. District One was able to satisfy all of us and we left with big tummies ready to take on the rest of the day. If you want some good Asian with bomb portions, definitely check this spot out. As my friend would say though if you're considering just the pho: "get something you wouldn't find anywhere else, and would you really pay thaaat much for a bowl of pho?" The choice is yours.
