We were in from out of state when I fell ill and needed to go to the ER. We got in around 1:30 am and were taken straight back. It was pretty empty. First issue was that I was doubled over in pain and the nurse just walked ahead of me. We got in the room and were left alone for 30 minutes. The attending walks in (Dr. Ortiz) walked in VERY cold. We had serious concerns based on my medical history and her questions were insensitive and quite blunt. She neglected to wash her hands or use hand gel before applying gloves. Her nurses even recognized how cold she was.
They could only give me Tylenol, but didn't give it to me until I was given my discharge papers at 6:00 am. I asked for them several times, but she never put them in the system. They brought me an antibiotic and 2 saltine crackers. They offered a sandwich which of course I never received.
We lived in California and had WAY better access to quality health care. I am astounded at the inefficient and insensitivity. If I ever need care when visiting family, I will go to Akron General or Summa. Ridiculous and unacceptable.
