  • I've seen a few reviews knocking on the service, but it couldn't be further from the truth as far as I'm concerned. Elena was our server, and she was sweet, friendly, and very accommodating. The food was outstanding. I took my mother here for dinner before a show at the Orpheum last night, and we decided to nosh on a bunch of appetizers rather than loading up on heavy entrees. The standout dishes were the prosciutto shrimp (or were they LOBSTERS... they were so big) and the cauliflower calabrese. We also had the snack plate and the bruschette, which were both great dishes in their own right. The food arrived quickly, and everyone with whom we had contact was professional, courteous, and accommodating. All that being said, you cannot visit this place without taking the "tour": the original elevator shaft with the clear floor and ceiling; walk around upstairs to get a view of the scene down below, and don't forget to check out the restrooms; then take a look at the funky mannequin in the front window of the restaurant (with the doll faces on her butt); last, but not least, is the creepy doll collection in the basement. All these things add a great deal of character and personality. This goes on my list of places to take out-of-towners. Well done, Hanny's! P.S. - A special shout-out to Elena, who didn't sing happy birthday to my mother (sparing us, she says), but brought out Tiramisu with a candle. We told her of our plans for the rest of the night, and wouldn't you know she spotted us walking back to our cars in the garage next door. She snuck out the door to greet us and ask us about the show, and we chatted up for another few minutes.
