| - I want to make it clear that my complaint is not at all with the provider who treated me, Jeanna Tapia, PA, when I came in with bronchitis and a sinus infection. She was friendly, seemed genuinely concerned about me, and she was pretty straightforward about what would be the best treatment.
My complaint is with the strange wait times. I am absolutely aware that urgent care wait times are usually a bit longer than, say, if you booked an appointment with your PCP a month in advance. They have a lot to deal with - - - and in flu season doubly so! However, when I walked in after scheduling an appointment online several hours earlier, there was no one at the front desk for a solid 25 minutes. I felt like an idiot standing there. When someone finally did come up, there was no acknowledgment of the wait. I handed over my insurance card and then sat in the waiting room for approximately one hour. I was miserably sick, like everyone else there, and the hour felt like a lifetime.
When I finally got called back, the MA was very friendly as she took my vitals and asked me to wait for the PA. Once again, ONE HOUR passed before PA Tapia entered the room. Again, PA Tapia was awesome (and I wish she'd consider making a switch to my PCP's office) but that wait time was outrageous. Unless they had something going on in one of the back rooms I couldn't have known about, one hour from vital signs to provider interaction is unacceptable. In the waiting room when I arrived, there were 4 patients. When all was said and done, I spent about 3 hours to get a prescription for antibiotics and an inhaler.
I am not sure I'll ever return to this particular urgent care.
