  • I just moved to the area and this is probably the closest local restaurant to home for me. In my search for good local eats, I paid Bluenose a visit. The first visit, I discovered that they were on summer vacation. So I had to wait until they reopened. No biggie. I returned on the second day that they reopened and ordered the Halibut and fries of course. They must have still been on vacation mode because the halibut tasted overcooked. It was dry and very difficult to eat without the addition of tartar sauce. I was quite disappointed. There aren't many good local eats around here in the first place and this wasn't helping the cause. However, I gave them the benefit of a doubt and vowed to give it a second chance. When I finally came back, I ordered the Halibut and fries again. Fortunately, this time, it tasted much better. The fish was not nearly as dry and flavorless. Maybe, they WERE still in vacation mode the first time around. Bluenose was not a complete bust. I will come back again and try out some burgers, but I can't say this is my local favourite as of yet. Hopefully my future visits can change my mind, but until then, I will have to keep looking for a local restaurant to frequent.
