| - The Riv is what it is. The moment you walk in the lobby you see wall after wall of pictures of starts of the 1950s & earlier who performed here through the late 1970s. This place is all about the past.
The rooms are relatively inexpensive, especially ordering through Expedia as I did. If you don't want a room that smells of 60 years of cigarette smoke, like some others complained about, then ask for a non-smoking room like I did. The bed was comfy, the AC & TV worked, and there's a safe for valuables.
The downside to The Riv is that the casino is where your lungs go to die. You can't sit in any of the restaurants, the food court, of the pinball "museum" (just a bunch of old pinball machines clustered around an escalator) if you don't want to breathe in a metric gigaliter's worth of second hand smoke.
Not kid friendly, but most of the casinos aren't either. No shops, and a long walk to The Westgate monorail stop.
Worth the money for the low price, clean room, and friendly staff.
