  • Its not like I came in for a can of paint or anything. I came in with full intention to buy a refrigerator. Arrived around 6pm and entered, headed straight back to appliances. Was met by sales associate named Sean (Shawn?). I told him I wanted to purchase a refrigerator, he asked me what make and model, I told him. He pulled it up, and told me the price, which I already knew. At that point, I asked him if Home Depot does price matching, to which he responded that it "depends on the other retailer and the price at the other retailer". I told him that Best Buy had the same refrigerator for $330 dollars less. Without even pulling up the information himself, or letting me show him the item in the best buy cart on my phone, he told me that I should just get it at Best Buy. I actually had to ask him to repeat himself because i was sure I misheard him. He repeated, and then told me that "he just does what upper management wants, and that he cant match a price for that much of a difference". At that point, I was so astounded that he would have me take my business elsewhere, that I went out to my car, called the Home Depot on Chandler Blvd, told them the make, model, and the price at Best buy. The gentleman I spoke to, Theo I believe his name was, looked up the price right then and there at best buy for me, and told me they could match it, and to come on in. WHAT? Is there no consistency between store locations anymore? Did Sean/Shawn just not want to help me? Was he just lazy? Was he making decisions based on managements behalf? Who knows. All I know is that it was totally ridiculous and unacceptable. I ended up going to Lowes across the way who pricematched, and was very pleasant. When i told the sales associate what Sean/Shawn said to me, his eyes bulged and his jaw dropped. Let this be a lesson, good customer service goes a long way. Consistency across the board at multiple locations goes a long way. Forget Home Depot, I wont be returning anytime soon. Don't waste your time at this location. Go to Lowes instead, but if you MUST go to Home Depot, be sure to hit the Chandler Blvd location. (drops mic).
