Issue #1: When I subscribe the the paper I still get call after call asking me to subscribe. I tell them to take me off the list and the next day they call me again. Sometimes they even argue with me about whether I have a subscription. It's like the pay kids to call people at random without removing actual subscribers from the call list first. It's super annoying.
Issue #2: I'm not a big fan of tossing the papers onto the driveway. I'd prefer it on the porch.
Issue #3: You subscribe for a year agreeing to the cost per week. Your subscription runs out and they try to get you to resubscribe at full price. If you don't resubscribe they charge you an arm and a leg for the extra couple of weeks beyond your "special rate".
Issue #4: The cost. I subscribed a few years back when it was $1 a week. Now the only quotes I can see online are pushing digital editions from $10-$20 a month. Digital editions should be pennies per week to subscribe.
Issue #5: When they got a new owner readers had to endure endless whining by employees about the new owner even before the new owner made any actually changes. Readers don't care if you like your boss or not. Readers also don't care who owns the paper as long as the stories are things locals want to read about.
Issue #6: Online articles are badly written and poorly researched. If you want to report on local stories you really need to employ some competent local reporters to investigate and write about local news events. Some of the recent stories are full of missing information and have have grammatical errors in the headlines.
